Two years ago a Foreign Office minister, Dennis MacShane, wrote a speech calling for Britain's Muslim leaders to condemn terrorism in "clearer, stronger language", and suggesting that Muslim parents should tell the police if they thought their children were being subverted by fundamentalists. He said "It is time for the leaders of British Muslims to make a choice. It is the British way, or it is the way of the terrorists". Muslim leaders angrily protested that it could never happen here. The Foreign Office insisted that MacShane tone down his comments, and once Labour won the general election he was sacked. I hope those Muslim leaders remember Dennis MacShane, now that they know their children really can be, and have been, subverted and brain-washed by the fundamentalist bombers. And I hope our political leaders will also have the good grace to feel just a little guilty at their treatment of a man whose only crime was to tell the truth. either on this site or on the World Wide Web.
